MTL Sauce Piquante

The Sauce Piquante Soundsystem is a live experience created by members of the label MTL Sauce Piquante. It is made up of producer and DJ Oonga, singers and rappers KC and Gioco, along with a rotating cast of party animal musicians based in Montreal including Kizaba, André Galamba, Chellz, Javier Maldonado, Hanser Santos and more. It was formed in the summer of 2023 in Oonga’s kitchen after an MTL Sauce Piquante showcase was rained out and the musicians had nowhere to go. The group has been building its following in Montreal through wild live performances, full of party-starting improvisations over home-cooked instrumentals. The first album, Cracher le feu, came out in June 2024.  Inspired by groups like Major Lazer, Moonshine, plus Mexican sonidero parties, these soundsystem context is highly flexible and has performed at clubs, street parties and festivals including Nuits d’Afrique, SRXP, Verdun 150, Norté, Entrepôt 77, etc.
