Kon-Fusion is a multicultural punk band from Montreal that mashes Mexican ska-punk, Chilean cumbia, and traditional music of the Andes into a rebellious celebration. It was formed in 2012 by two Chilean immigrants who met in pre-gentrification Verdun: Pablo, a punk rocker from Santiago, and Luciano, a multi-instrumentalist steeped in the protest music of Indigenous-led resistance in the south of Chile.
Pablo learned revolutionary songs from his mother and became a part of Santiago’s punk scene, where music and a festive spirit are inseparable from social justice. Luciano, raised in a family of street musicians near Concepción, learned Andean folk traditions from his father, with whom he played when they first arrived in Canada. Soon after meeting in Montreal, their shared roots in resistance and festivity led to Kon-Fusion: a band where DIY punk values meet dance-floor horns and anarchist humour.

Over the past decade, Kon-Fusion has toured across Quebec, Ontario, and Mexico, playing everything from festivals, co-ops, and independent venues to workers’ rights rallies and grassroots fundraisers. Along the way, they’ve picked up awards including Alternative Group of the Year (Canadian Latin Awards) and the Syli Bronze, while even soundtracking the 2021 Chilean uprising on national radio.
With its rebellious, celebratory Andean ska sound, the band will appeal to fans of bands like Chico Trujillo, Gogol Bordello, and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Kon-Fusion’s third album "Arriba de su muro" (Above their wall) arrives in spring 2026.
