Less Toches is an accordion-powered quintet founded in a park during the pandemic lockdowns in Montreal. A truly continental mix with members from Colombia, Mexico and Argentina singing in 3 languages, the band is part of a new school of underground alternative latin bands connecting the sounds of previous generations with the dancefloors of today.
Performing constantly at kitchen parties, in parks and on the street, on festival stages and in sweaty basements, the group has quickly become one of the leading live acts in the booming Montreal latin scene. Their show is a celebration of distant cousins meeting, turning mundane places into portals, parties leading to otherworldly tradition.
With more than 80 performances in 2025, including at the Festival d'Été du Québec, the National Arts Center, Nuits d'Afrique and many more, plus showcases at Folk Music Ontario and Mundial Montreal, the band has worked hard to perfect its raw and intense blend of cumbia and vallenato into a stripped-down mix of hypnotizing melodies, explosive rhythm, and pure poetic energy.
